Sufi Shah Inayat Shaheed — The journey in the search of Murshid
Hazrat Sufi Shah Inayatullah Sufi al-Qadri (1656–1718 A.D) popularly known as Sufi Shah Inayat Shaheed OR the Shah Inayat of Jhok Sharif belongs to Makhdoom family. He was one of three sons of Makhdoom Fazlullah Shah. Hazrat Sufi Shah Inayat Shaheed was born in 1066 AH in 1656 AD at his ancestors’ hometown in Miran Pur. He began his early education under the supervision of his father, Makhdoom Fazlullah Shah.
In the age of fifteen, he became passionate to go for the search of Murshid. In search of a Murshid; along with three others, Amin Mohammad Naqshbandi, Shah Hamzo, and Mohammed Ibrahim started their journey from their homeland, state of Miran Pur. It was 1081 A.H and 1671 AD.
When Sufi Shah Inayat Shaheed, accompanied his three friends, reached Multan. Shaikh Shamsuddin Multani was present in Multan city. After twelve months, Shaikh Shahi ordered that your trustee Syed Mahmood Al-Mutarif Datta Abdul Malik Gilani is near Bijanpur in the ministry of Hyderabad Deccan. So, they were suggested to leave for Bijanpur (currently it is in Punjab, India) to accomplish the purpose of their journey.
While travelling from Multan, he met Syed Ghulam Muhammad Shah (Dehlawi) in Jahanabad for a very short span of time. He took the lessons of mystic knowledge of Sufism and then accompanied Syed Ghulam Shah to Hyderabad to submit his pledge of allegiance to Datta Abdul Malik. Datta Abdul Malik, however, flatly denied that if you have any other problem not relating to this he will be available to help them. Hazrat Sufi Shah Inayat Shaheed insisted Datta Abdul malik because they had travelled to Bijanpur with a purpose. After insisting so much, Datta Abdul Malik ordered that you come to Bijanpur. He himself (Datta Abdul Malik) lived in Hyderabad Deccan only came to Bijanpur on Friday night and he will have to return to Hyderabad Deccan.
When Hazrat Datta Abdul Malik Jilani arrived in Bijanpur from Hyderabad Deccan according to his orders Hazrat Sufi Sahib along with his friends were present in Bijanpur. Hazrat Datta Sahib, who ordered Hazrat Sufi Sahib who had pledged allegiance to sit in the bamboo forest, so he sat in Mujahideen following the orders of Hazrat Datta Sahib.
Hazrat Datta Sahib told Sufi Shah Inayat Shaheed that “O faker! what will you pay for this?”, Hazrat Sufi Sahib replied,“the price is my head”.
